Helmshore Road in Haslingden was closed following a serious late-night collision, and authorities have now confirmed a tragic update. Emergency services were called at approximately 11:49 p.m. to the junction of Helmshore Road and Dean Road after reports of a crash. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a Volkswagen Golf traveling southbound had left the roadway and collided with the side of a residential property. The driver, a man in his 20s, sustained multiple serious injuries.

Two passengers in the vehicle, both 18-year-old women, suffered severe injuries and remain hospitalized, where they are receiving ongoing treatment. Specially trained officers are providing support to their families during this difficult time. The road remained closed for several hours as investigators carried out detailed examination work at the scene. Authorities are working to determine the circumstances that led to the crash.

Sergeant Anthony Beckett of the Roads Policing Unit expressed condolences, stating that his thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the deceased driver, as well as with the injured passengers as they continue to receive care.
